CAF CONFEDERATION CUP 2016 DRAW
The draw for the 2nd 1/8th round of the Orange CAF Confederation Cup was dominated by North African derbies in the battle for places at the group stage of the second-tier continental championship.
Former African champions, Esperance will face debutants MO Bejaia of Algeria whilst Ahli Tripoli of Libya will be up against Misr Makkassa of Egypt.
Holders Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia have been drawn against CF Mounana of Gabon, with another tricky pairing being Sudanese giants, El Merreikh against Kawkab Marrakech of Morocco.
The draws also pit two former winners against each other, Stade Malien (2009) and FUS Rabat (2010); meaning one of them will miss out on the opportunity for a second title.
DR Congo giants, TP Mazembe will face yet another North African opposition in Stade Gabesien of Tunisia whilst South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns battles Medeama of Ghana.
The ceremony held on Thursday, 21 April 2016 at the CAF Headquarters in Cairo was conducted by CAF Secretary General Hicham El Amrani and assisted by Hazem Hawary, member of the CAF Interclubs Committee.
