Egypt’s Zidan joins UAE’s Bani Yas

Mohamed Zidan joins UAE’s Bani Yas after refusing to extend his loan deal with Bundisliga outfit Mainz.

United Arab Emirates outfit Bani Yas have completed the signing of Egyptian striker Mohamed Zidan on a two-year deal Monday, French news agency (AFP) revealed.
Bani Yas, ended 9th in the Emirates’ Professionals League table last season, didn’t disclose the financial details of the deal of the Pharaohs star who was free to sign for any other club as his contract with Dortmund expired last June.

The 30-year-old attacker left Bundesliga champions Dortmund in the January transfer window in search of more regular first-team football than he found when he joined Mainz on loan.

Mainz turned down the option of extending Zidan’s contract until 2014 offering only to keep his services for another year, a deal the Egyptian showed little appetite for.
