Zaki or Ghaby?

Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie implied that the club will unlikely make a move for Egypt and Zamalek striker Amr Zaki.

Zaki has been linked with Portsmouth as his agent Nader Shawki was recently in talks with the club’s prospected owner Soliman Al-Fahim.

However, Pompey signed French international striker Frederic Piquionne on Thursday and are keen on acquiring the services of Newcastle’s Mark Viduka.

Above that, CEO Storrie revealed that the link with the Zak is no more than ‘agent talk’.

“That is mainly agent talk. The agent has been on to me constantly about him and out of respect we always look at things like that,” Storrie told The News.

“With Zaki, firstly we would need to be sound and positive about the deal and, secondly, we certainly wouldn’t pay any loan fee until we knew what the stability of the boy was like.”

Zaki enjoyed a magnificent start with Wigan last term, before his late indiscipline ruined his earlier goalscoring form.

The 26-year-old is now poised to stay with Zamalek, who open their Egyptian Premier League season against ENPPI on Friday.
